    Forgiveness under RAP

    I have been on old IBR for about 10 years (I graduated in 2016).

    If I switch over to RAP, is 2046 the earliest date I can expect forgiveness or will 2041 (25 years of payments) still be honored?

      Your payments made on IBR should count towards RAP. Also, there are also rules being proposed that will make it that payments made on RAP will count towards IBR forgiveness. So check back here at a later date

      If you move to RAP you will be required 30 years of payments. Your eligible payments from IBR will transfer over with you.

      If you swap to RAP the “25 years” will no longer be honored. You have the option to stay on IBR and keep the forgiveness date.
