RIP DLive! Another YouTube Competitor Bites the Dust!

DLive is shutting down for good — the crypto-powered Twitch rival that launched in 2017 with big PewDiePie hype and blockchain dreams just announced it’s ceasing operations after eight years of bleeding users to Kick, YouTube, and the rest. Top-ups and subscriptions got axed immediately on April 7 while creators scramble to yank their coins, cancel subs, and download VODs before the servers go dark forever — yeah the platform that couldn’t crack discoverability or monetization finally tapped out while everyone else keeps printing money.

    1. X should partner with Rumble. Elon said he wanted to use X to compete with YouTube eventually. The bones of what he wants is already there.

    2. I remember seeing PewdePie's name on the app for a few months and found out not long after that he went back to YouTube. lol

But yeah… it wasn't that great with that crypto and other issues that happened over the years.

    3. I do remember, remember PewDiePie tried it when YouTube popped him for some inappropriate (N-word) saying and got some folks to follow… (Brittany Venti as well) but they all left afterwards but became a small community for Dilve… Gonzo as of today.

Rumble will survive but they definitely need normies badly, because it's mostly on the front is the manosphere and political content (right wing on the latter)…

    4. I have literally never heard of DLive before.

But they sound like they screwed up the exact same way every other rival has, throw all their money to a handful of big names, hoping that smaller channels jump over, but as soon as their contracts are over and they don't see the same return they did on their old sites, they immeaditly jump ship.

    5. I was really big into COUB (a Vine replacement) and it was a great place for me to sample music (something I know absolutely nothing about, especially anything post 2007) and them the app stopped working for me, but it's a Russian gif video site and during the first Trump administration (and then after the Ukraine invasion) it was more difficult to access it. Plus they had so much music on their that there was copyright issues that eventually ruin the site. Sometimes I was able to access it via a United Kingdom website but I believe that got shut down.
