so this truck it was so big he drove up and speeding up in the traffic light, i couldnt see the traffic light so i thought the light turn green i guess it wasnt green and he just braked out of nowhere, my car got damaged heavily in the front, hood, grill, bumper. i hit the back of his car, but when i reversed, there was literally no damage at all, i wanted to be a good person so i gave him my insurance since he asked for it, i was in distress so i gave him all my information, then a week later, my car was totaled, and now i dont know what to do, im not sure if i made the right choice by giving him insurance instead of cash, since his was wasnt even dent or scratched. and what can i do now about my car being totaled?

i hit a car by accident his car didnt get damaged at all somehow but still asked for my insurance did i do the right thing by giving it to him?

    1. You made the right move. He could claim a back injury or something- let your insurance cover it. I’m not sure what your car being totaled has to do with anything though.

You made the right call. You pay for insurance for a reason and indemnify is also very real!

You did the correct thing. You were at fault for the accident and are liable for any damages you may have caused. I know you said his car was not damaged at all, but unless you have some auto body experience, you should not be confident that is the case. If the other driver may end seeking medical treatment, even if only for a minor issue, they deserve fair compensation.

    4. That’s what you are supposed to do – exchange that information so you were right to do so. That’s why you pay for insurance. It’s insurance in case you have an accident. See how that goes? lol Don’t worry they will handle whatever comes up. If there is no visible damage he might not do anything. Wait and see and hopefully it will be nothing. Either way your part is pretty much done. That’s the way it goes sometimes. Sorry about your car. It’s never easy. At least you didn’t get hurt, just the wallet. It will be fine.

Wouldn’t hurt to snap a few pictures from various angles at the scene that show no apparent damage. If they come back reporting major damage you’d have a leg to stand on. Get their license plate in one of them.
