How Europe’s Jet Fuel Crisis Threatens Summer Travel Plans
The International Energy Agency on Thursday warned that the Middle East crisis is hurting Europe’s airline industry, which is on the brink of running out of jet fuel. As Europe heads into its peak travel season, a continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could lead to hundreds of flight cuts, disrupting travel plans. CNBC’s Leslie Josephs reports on how the industry is weathering the jet fuel shortage and what it means for air travelers.

Maybe it'll help curb climate change a bit. There's a silver lining 💁♂
Why are our European subjects complaining?
Sounds good.
To many Planes in the air anyway
No one will be running out of fuel in the short term but airlines might need to reduce their routes if supply constraints kick in over the next few months. This is because Saudi Arabia has a pipeline that runs across the country that allows for crude to be discharged at Yanbu which is on the Red Sea, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz altogether. Of course, if the Iranians are reckless enough to bomb that pipeline, we're likely to see an altogether more co-ordinated military campaign against Iran from the countries that are still talking about a diplomatic solution to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Thanks trump and Netanyahu🖕
And whose fault is this??????
i booked a flight last week from Poland back to london for £17, i was surprised myself how cheap it still was but my fear is the flight is in 3 weeks time and by then it will be cancelled
A worldwide staycation in 2026. Covid 2.0 for Airlines and anything tourism. Thanks, orange man.
that's what happen when the Europe neglected energy security for decades. you CANNOT keep relying other countries keep supplying you
Europeans should get used to the fact that air tickets will be very expensive and will be available only to the upper class, as it was before.
Trump-Epstein regime is destroying both Europe and Asia.
We all know what needs to be done. Hopefully someone is already planning it.
It's not just jet-fuel it's diesel & fertilizers we are looking at a global food shortage that's going to be devastating to agriculture across the world & force millions into starvation. The US is not immune it imports much of it's fertilizer needs & imports about $200 billion in food, drink & animal feed a year only those overseas suppliers have no or very expensive diesel to run farm equipment & fertilizers are becoming scarce, prices are going through the roof. Nitrate fertiliser has increased by 172%, potassium chloride fertiliser (potash) had increased by 165%, phosphate fertilisers increased by 128% & it's getting worse by the day as global supply's dwindles.
😂so funny, I’m loving it…. first Russia and now Iran oil, hopefully china will stop selling them REE minerals too…
They will declare "force majeure", cancel your flight and offer you, basically, the same flight for twice the price!
That lads and gents is how a POTUS who never heard of the principles of the peace of westphalia runs a world into the ground as he so succesfully and effiecently did with his casinos…a total clown…but hey, we can learn it the hard way by going back to the medieval times!
If I caused all this, I would be sued… so, Who is responsible and will they be sued (Or sanctioned)?
German here, most of us will travel for holiday to local destinations like spain, italy, switzerland, austria, denmark, portugal, france, or stay in germany…traveling mostly by train… or by car…or by bus…or by a rivership….or take a ferry to norway, sweden, egypt…well, so many oportunitys without the need of jet fuel…glad to be european 😂
Has anyone noticed the billions of oil/gas insider trading & profits by Trump & cronies in the intentional wars of choice against Russia, Iran & Venezuela.
Don’t European normal flaunt that they do not have to rely on flying because their expansive rail network.
Well done CNBC, stoking fear, anxiety & worry. You’re playing your part in the propaganda war.
Gee, if only someone could have foreseen what a clusterfuck the world would be if Trump was elected. Oh wait….
