I live in florida. my fiance owns a 2021 Hyundai sonata. his license was suspended because of some issues with geico. the car is currently uninsured and im having trouble finding a company that will insure without his license but it is our only vehicle and i need to drive it to take us both to and from work. any advice please!

I have no accidents or anything on my record. its also financed through his bank and so we cant switch it into my name to be able to do it that way. is there any options for us?

Can I insure a car that is in my fiances name

Contact a local independent insurance agent/broker and see if they can locate any insurers that will cover this car in this situation.

Find a local agent and see what your options are. They’re going to be pretty slim and your fiance will need to be on the policy regardless. Some carriers *might* list him as a non driver, but they probably won’t because they know odds are, he’s going to drive the vehicle. You can put your hand on a bible and say he won’t all you want, but the data says that’s not what happens in the real world.

    3. He needs to transfer the car loan to you or pay off the loan and sell the car to you. You can then insure it for yourself to drive.

Can you refinance the car and add yourself? If you were married this may be easier.

    5. In some cases you can but you would have to register it in your name and get plates in your name. You cannot insure it without your name attached to the registration.

Short answer: No. You have no insurable interest. That said, check with an agent and see what happens if you are added as a registered owner.
