So on April 17th at around 5pm someone ran a stop sign and hit the driver side of my vehicle. Airbags were deployed so im guessing it’s a total loss. The problem is i purchased GEICO insurance online at 11:46pm on April 16th but the effective date was changed to the 26th of April. I didn’t notice until after the accident and i ended changing the effective date through an agent explaining the purchase was made the night before but the effective date was changed. I know i am not at fault in the accident and the other driver insurance would cover it. My question is since they have to verify insurance would GEICO say that i am or was insured that the time of the accident?

Depends on the state.
ETA: for third party to cover PD if you’re insured. Sounds like with the date you weren’t.
You need to go online to Geico’s website and look up your policy. You’ll be able to see the declaration page and any endorsements.
You will need to see the endorsement changing the effective date to April 16.
If that endorsement doesn’t exist and your policy declarations page says April 26 as the start date then you were uninsured on April 17 no matter what anybody “tells” you.

If your policy was not in effect the day of the accident, then you were not insured. The timing is also incredibly suspicious and you should expect a call from SIU.
are you retarded?? why would i purposely make the effective date 10 days later if i wasn’t insured then drive around instead of making it effective that day? They already took the money the moment i purchased it how can that be fraud? i could understand if they didn’t take the money at all.
Who is the “they” that would need to verify your insurance?
