I’ve been thinking a lot about how family-run franchises can either become an amazing partnership or a real challenge, and I wanted to open up the conversation here. A lot of people consider going into business with a sibling or spouse because the trust is already there, but I feel like the real success comes down to clear roles, communication, and shared expectations.

The rest can flow naturally with your discussion points:
How did you divide roles and responsibilities?
Did it strengthen your relationship, or did it create more tension than expected?

Were there any lessons you wish you knew before starting together?

I’d really love to hear honest experiences from people who’ve done it, because I think there’s a lot others can learn from both the wins and the challenges.

Anyone here successfully running a franchise with siblings or spouse?

Family partnerships usually get framed as a trust question.

But the tension tends to show up when roles, decisions, and expectations are not made explicit.

Trust helps you start, but it does not replace a clear system for how work is divided and how decisions get made.

That is usually what determines whether it stays a partnership or turns into friction.
