I had not been on student aid since 2024 and have not paid attention to it since 2024, however a week or so ago I got an email from mohela saying my account was marked delinquent and I owe around $400. I tried to contact them on their site through their messaging platform but everytime I click send it says there was an error. I tried calling but everytime I would get to the menu options no matter which option I choose it doesn't go through and I am left in limbo. Has anyone else had this issue, or is there something I am doing wrong?
Mohela is asking for $400 out of nowhere and I am unable to get into contact with them

I would start with studentaid[dot]gov. If you have legitimate Federal student loans outstanding, that website will tell you how much you have, and what servicer they’re with, their current status and payment plan, etc.
Hopefully this goes without saying, but don’t ever click a link or call a phone number that you receive in an unsolicited and unexpected email. It might be legit, but it’s not worth the risk.
