So as the only coffee drinker in the house, and as such I realized making a pot of coffee and storing it in the fridge for iced coffee is the best way to stretch it out (it does get stale after a few days but nothing too bad).

But I do not have any good supply of coffee at work, and I do tend to drink 2 to 3 cups a day…so I figured I would start bringing my own supply by reusing my old glass pasta jars my wife and I kept around. I have a glass at work already and a ice maker so this should work.

I guess part of this post is just sharing a idea if someone else likes it, but does anyone use their reusable glass jars for anything "unique?" We use them for supplies, condiments, sauces we make, and fruit (pineapple being the biggest one!) but what else do you guys like them for?

I used to do this with coffee until a jar full of coffee fell out of my bag and smashed on the work bathroom floor.

I do this during the summer, but with cold brew instead. Rather than hunting for a large jug, I just split the recipe down into pasta jar sizes and it works just as well.

    3. I have an old salad dressing jar that I bring my coffee refill around in. I need to replace it cause the lid is breaking and it’ll leak if it’s not upright.

    4. I have been using these jars for years for basic drinking. We have nice glasses for wine and these for water

    5. When I get takeout and a drink is included, I take my jar and have that filled up instead! Way less likely to leak or spill this way too.

Same with little reusable containers, I’ll use those for salsa.

    6. I love making ice tea in the jar on the right! Keeps me from having to measure hot water separately! And to bring home coffee from my coffee shop job, I can measure the milk and don’t have to waste a plastic cup lol.

I also hate opening plastic bags so I will put my matcha, ground coffee, protein powder, chia seeds, oats in old pasta jars

This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. As far as coffee goes, have you heard of making ice cubes out of it to use in your iced coffee?

As far as jars for drinks go, there are a couple of different options for drinking tops to wide mouth jars if you’re interested in perusing that type of thing. I found one thing called “jargo” at a thrift store that’s shaped like the top of a bottle and you screw it to the top of a jar. Then I just ordered these “pouring spouts” from Temu for that are shaped just like the tops of shaker bottles, but go on glass jars. I hope they work well.

Yes, jars for drinks is a great way to go and equals fewer microplastics in our systems. That’s why I’m trying to make the switch.

I use glass jars to store pantry staples. Sometimes I buy a gallon of pickles just for the jar, really.
