I’m 19 and have around ₹1 lakh debt. I’ve decided I’m going to tell my dad, but I’m overthinking the reaction.
If you’ve been in a similar situation (college age, messed up financially, had to confess at home):
How did you bring it up?
How did your parents react in the first few days?
Did trust actually break long-term, or did things normalize?
Anything you wish you had said or NOT said?
I already know I messed up.
I just want real experiences so I don’t walk into this blindly.
People who told their parents about debt at a young age — how did it actually go?

what’s your goal with the convo? for him to pay it off?
What kind of debt you have? Credit, gambling, borrowing from a friend?
Why do you feel like you need to tell him? You’re an adult and it’s your debt. If you don’t want to tell him, then don’t. My parents don’t know the details of my financial life either.
