As the title says I need some help navigating the specifics of my fathers estate.
He was blessed with material as they say and before he passed he told us that he had things placed in trust so as to avoid misinterpretation should he pass. Of course at the time that seemed like a good while off and I didnt need or ask for specifics.
Well he unexpectedly passed earlier this year leaving behind my stepmom, my younger brother and myself.
my step mom has handled everything since his passing including the estate stuff that we are told is in probate. I want to firstly say that I have no reason to mistrust her and dont think she would be either suprised or offput by our asking for specifics, Id just like to know exactly what I should be seeing or looking for before I do the asking.
Ideally we would like to see a will and what ever itemized list is in the trust for me and both my brother. additionally what belongs to who actually or how much is to be shared. Idk know where to start to be honest.

You can just ask her for those things
A trust is generally used to avoid probate so that doesn’t quite make sense. Ask her if you can see the trust documents.

So ask for that when the time is right.
Sorry for your loss.
