Does not allow paperless billing in the state of California?!? It's greyed out on my end so I called customer service and they said the state of CA doesn't allow going paperless therefore I don't qualify for the autopay/paperless billing discount. Anyone heard of this?

I have Progressive in CA and they let me do everything paperless. Even when I was with Farmers and Mercury.
Customer service is incorrect. CA permits paperless billing for auto policies. Doesn’t mean your carrier is required to offer it, or maybe there are restrictions that apply to your program. Doesn’t really matter though – if they don’t want to offer it, they don’t have to.
CA probably has a requirement where certain documents must be physically mailed. American Family may not have the technology to allow for this so they just mail all documents in CA. Wild guess but just my thought.
California is extremely limited in what discounts they are allowed to offer customers. More than any other state. Your state thinks someone it’s predatory and unfair to other customers who don’t get the discount. I’m not sure if the paperless discount is eligible for rating in CA but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it wasn’t.
I wouldn’t worry though, that discount is typically very small like $5/term.
I have autopay and paperless in CA with State Farm. I do not get a discount though.
