Curious to know what people think. The Mag 7 (Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Nvidia, Meta, Tesla) all have their own niches and overlaps, but which one in your opinion is actually the most critical? Which would have the greatest impact on the world if it disappeared suddenly?
Which of the Mag 7 would cause the greatest disruption if it disappeared overnight, and why?

amazon. AWS is too huge. probably alphabet / microsoft close behind though
My vote is on Amazon, then Microsoft, then Alphabet.
Totally fine with losing Tesla and Meta. We’d probably all be happier without Meta.
Suddenly being the key word, Amazon, Microsoft, or Alphabet would all be devastating. Most of the internet would disappear from the loss of their cloud services, and most companies would find themselves without email, websites, etc. Nvidia would be painful but not instantly, and TSMC would just redirect their capacity towards other companies’ chips.
Meta, Apple, and Tesla would not be terribly disruptive.
Microsoft hands down. Windows runs the world, so does MS Office (Excel, word, ppt, etc.). A loss of support of these tools would highly impact Amazon and alphabet.
Tesla. The disruption would be a melt-up….
Amazon or Microsoft. AWS and Windows architecture are baked in at the enterprise level
In my own life, Meta.
Can’t contact people through Messenger/WhatsApp, can’t get my Instagram Reels fix, no Facebook for social media.
The other companies have more competitors, but Meta is _the_ social network.
Microsoft is probably the weakest outside of work, Windows runs locally. Google has Search and YouTube. AWS runs a lot of secondary things, so a bit hard to estimate.. but nothing personally critical AFAIK.
Google.
Tesla is already obsolete.
Nvidia is quickly losing in monopoly status with importance of GPU’s shifting to CPU workloads in the upcoming agentic Ai world. Also, googles TPU and Tranium are lookin good. Basically they have 5 very large customers who make up a majority of their revenue. Each of those companies have unlimited capital and trying to bring their own chips to market.
NVIDIA is massively overvalued right now and everyone is hot on it.
If you bought NVIDIA stock now at $201 per share and the AI bubble burst and it dropped back to $20/share at pre-2022 levels you’d lose 91% of your investment.
Definitely Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft because of their cloud services. Apple and Nvidia would be next. There will be an improvement in quality of life without the last two.
Nvidia was my gut reaction. But for the average person it would take a while to trickle down.
Like other have said, Amazon, Microsoft and google would be instant chaos if they got thanos snapped. Meta has a lot of cloud stuff too I believe, but idk the extent of theirs.
Apple I think a lot of people could limp along without, even if it would be a very turbulent transition. They’re kind of in their own eco system and compartmentalized from other stuff. So the people it hurt it would REALLY hurt, but it would be less widespread.
Tesla I think is the only one that could go without any real major long term effects.
Depends by what you mean.
Is the company going bankrupt? Or are all their assets suddenly gone? Do their products remain behind?
If everything they do disappears, then it’s definitely Microsoft. There would be mass death as all our critical systems fail at the same time. As almost all the computers stop working.
If their products are left behind but the company alone disappears, probably still Microsoft, but without the mass deaths.
To everyone saying Apple wouldn’t be a big loss…what did you type your comment on?
Super hard to say. If any of AMZN MSFT or GOOG goes down then the internet goes.
