I am trying to file taxes for my uncle and its pretty simple (just 2 w-2's summing to about 10k).

The main thing is that he was married (as far as we are aware no divorce was filed), has not spoken to his wife in about 10 years, and she passed away in 2025. We also live in Texas which is a community property state.

From my research I understand that he has to file as married filing single due to her passing away that year and take 50% of the household income, however we have no contact to her side of the family to get information (ss, income, etc.) to e-file.

Is there any other way to go about this or any advice?

How would family member file if he hasn't spoken to wife in 10yrs and just passed away?
