Do other insurance professionals take it personally when people say "insurance is a scam"? I try not to, but I really can't help but be offended when someone indirectly accuses me of having a livelihood that is completely fraudulent and predatory.

Its very common for people to say this. Just yesterday I saw a post on one of the big Reddits titled something like "What is a huge scam but totally legal", and the top comment was, you guessed it.

Doesn’t bother me. Typically the people that say that are completely underinsured and then get upset when something isn’t covered because they’re trying to save every penny.

It’s a little annoying. But really just shows how stupid a lot of people are

I have worked in the industry for 40 years and I have heard it as well as that hospital or doctor killed my relative. I just keep going!

Doesn’t bother me. The people that are screaming that obviously are full of shit. So why would I care if somebody was advertising that they are full of shit? Hell, I kind of like to read their comments and justifications for feeling that way because it’s usually entertaining.

It’s usually the signal people that don’t know how insurance even works and can’t read policies, so no.

    6. I couldn’t care less. It doesn’t impact my check one way or the other.

Plus, I’ve been in the business long enough to witness a fair amount of slime, and I’m sympathetic to those who realize insurers exist to make money- not to help people.

    7. I do not really, but that is because i have worked in auto and homeowners insurance, which I feel serve a real purpose. Regarding health insurance, that is a different story and I could never work in that industry.
