I feel like I already have all the good cards, 14 in total now. I know store cards are usually meh but are there any good ones before I turn my attention to pure sign up bonus churning?
Already have the Chase/Amazon Prime Visa card and might also be interested in the Costco and perhaps Best Buy card. Thoughts? I've also been interested in the new Shop Your Way card as it seems to have really good multipliers but I'm struggling to sign up with all the waitlists and technical issues atm and even though I'm lucky enough to still have a Sears nearby, they don't do in store signups anymore. Are there any other good store credit cards?
Edit: NO store-only network cards
Any good store credit cards you'd recommend?

the costco card is actually decent if you shop there regularly, 4% back on gas is pretty solid and 3% on restaurants. best buy one is whatever unless you’re always buying electronics
target redcard might be worth looking at too – 5% off everything there plus free shipping. nothing fancy but if you already shop at target it adds up quick
Costco is really only good for the 5% at Costco gas stations and as a no FTF 3% dining card.
I use the Target debit card which also gets you a 5% discount up front. I’m considering the Walmart card (5%) once PayPal debit nerf goes into effect.
The best store branded cards are the Kroger family of cards for 5% digital wallet for up to $3k and you can get multiple. Some also have a $100 SUB and 3% dining and gas multipliers and no FTF. I have two so I get $500 in 5% Apple Pay a month – I plan on applying for two more.
I know it’s been mentioned already, but the Citi Best Buy Visa is pretty top tier. They don’t advertise this, but every 3 months, you choose a rotating 5% cashback category AND they offer what’s basically a new SUB (or bonus offer) of a varying amount around 3-8 times a year. Like just this last month they offered $50 in rewards if you spent $750 outside of best buy.
My main complaint is that the rewards are set to auto redeem for a best buy reward certificate at the end of every month which expire pretty quickly. But there’s a way to disable auto redemption somewhere on their website, (it’s been a while so I don’t remember how I did it). Otherwise you can redeem rewards for various gift cards at a 50% transfer rate. And if you do want to use it at best buy, you can often get crazy deals if you pair it with their paid membership.
Example bonus offers: https://imgur.com/a/RT6tigx
Another con is that CLI requests result in a hard pull, which sucks.
But you do get 3% back on gas which is pretty good, especially for racking up points for those periodic bonus offers
What are your top 5 favorite cards? For me it’s:
Aven for 3%
Kroger for 5% Digital wallet
Citi Costco for 5% gas
Citi Custom Cash for 5% restaurants
US Bank Cash + for 5% on utilities and cellular
If you mean store-only network cards, they all suck. Like, virtually all of them.
If you mean Visa/Mastercard/AmEx store branded credit cards, 95% of those suck. 4% are the ones that earn 5% cash back on their specific store and which can be situationally worthwhile for people with high spend there, like the Best Buy or Walmart cards. 1% are the ones actually worth putting general spending on, which is mostly just the Kroger card and its variants, Sam’s Club, arguably Costco, very arguably BJ’s One+. Costco card actually sucks for Costco spending because it earns a mere 2% on it, which is the same as any catch-all and inferior to 3% wholesale clubs category cards like the AAA Daily Advantage or Venmo Visa. It’s mainly useful for 5% Costco gas, which is relatively hard to find on another card.
Is there a particular reason you’re looking for store cards? If not churning I’d rather just stack Citi Custom Cash, US Bank Cash+, Elan Max Cash Preferred, Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards, and/or US Bank Kroger Rewards credit cards. The end result of that is often the same or better than what most store cards can do for you. E.g. Elan MCP has a 5% department stores category, US Bank Cash+ has a 5% clothing stores category, Citi Custom Cash has 5% drugstores, Kroger card is 5% anywhere that takes mobile wallet, etc.
I think OnePay CashRewards isn’t bad if one has Walmart+ and shops there often enough. 5% unlimited there is quite strong. Do wish the SUB were a little better. 1.5% elsewhere is meh, would probably only use at Walmart.
I freaking LOVE my OnePay Cash Rewards credit card (Walmart credit card). I have Walmart+ so all my purchases and gas at Walmart gets 5% back and the offers are so good. This month, my boost is essentially another sub (I get $75 dollars after spending $1500). Last month I had 2% cashback on all purchases outside of Walmart. I also get various gas savings offers. It’s still pretty new but it is one of my favorite cards so far.
How is the 1st 2nd and 3rd card mentioned not Amazon? It’s 5% off all of Amazon and a free card assuming you already have prime. It’s actually like the biggest no brainer ever
