New to leveraging credit cards in the way you guys all do, but i've managed to have zero debt, a healthy savings, a great retirement portfolio, so at 37 its time for me to figure out how to actually use cards to my advantage beyond just having a high score.

My portfolio of cards currently is

    • US Bank Altitude Go (just upgraded, assuming this should be a daily driver)
    • Discover it NHL (idk if this is becoming capital one)
    • Prime Visa (this was my daily driver but amazon has gone downhill in quality, which got me looking into this)
    • Costco Credit Card (newest card, not sure if i'll keep it based on some things i'm hearing about it)

I guess I'm wondering a few things. Will my Discover It NHL card becomes something at capital one, if so should i be trying to do a capital one stack after my accounts migrate?

Option 2, should i be trying to stack something with this altitude go card from US bank to create a rewards system towards traveling, or pair it with a cash back card

Option 3, something else? Note my US Bank accounts are ancient so i can't just cancel it, but i don't have to use them tons if there's a better plan.

What direction should i go with my cards?

Hard to say without much info on your monthly spending patterns. One thing that is easy to note is that the Altitude Go isn’t a good “daily driver” – I suppose that term works if your daily spending is mostly dining, but in reality most good credit card setups build up off of a catch-all with a good rate of returns across all spending while the Altitude Go is a card best used specifically for its 4% dining multiplier. So you’d want a 2% catch-all like the Wells Fargo Active Cash, Citi Double Cash, or Fidelity Rewards as a ‘daily’ card for misc expenses, switching to the Altitude Go for dining expenses and to the Amazon Prime for Amazon expenses etc.

      As for

      > should i be trying to stack something with this altitude go card from US bank to create a rewards system towards traveling

US Bank has no transfer partners. All US Bank cards are cash back cards, so there’s no real point to pooling points. US Bank has a few useful cards though, like the Altitude Connect and the Cash+
