Usually, Metamask swaps are convenient since it's easy to access and fast to execute but i just paid close to $75 swapping $900 of ETH to USDC. that's their 0.875% service fee on top of gas, i didn't even notice for months.

It turns out their swap feature is just aggregating other routes with a markup baked in, you're literally paying extra for the convenience of not leaving the wallet.

There has to be a better option that's still non-custodial and shows the real all-in cost before you confirm, no KYC no wrapped tokens. what are people actually using for this?

MetaMask swap fees are getting ridiculous

Not sure why you wouldn’t just trade on Solana, Hyperliquid or Base. Especially for smaller trades. You never want to get stuck trading on the Ethereum L1. I’ve paid over $700 for some Ethereum L1 transactions during more active times.

Until Ethereum truly scales: Don’t ever depend on the ability to trade in future without preparing for the possibility of massive fees.

Also, never trade in a wallet. Use protocol sites directly like Jupiter (Solana), 1inch or Uniswap.

I don’t know the prices on other apps but have you tried Phantom? I’ve been using them more than MM lately. Been a solid app

Metamask uses other aggregators and slaps a convenience fee on top of it

You should use those aggregators directly and you will get true rates

      Eg 1inch openocean velora(paradex)
