I’m almost but not yet 18, so I’m not able to open a checking account on my own. Opening a supervised account with my parents wouldn’t otherwise be a problem, except for the fact that my parents are not helping me out whatsoever. I started my first job, my paycheck comes soon, and I’m really stressed out. My employer gave me a packet with one of those payroll cards you can activate, except the card and signup number expired three years ago and as I mentioned, I’m not an adult!
What do I do in this situation?? I plan to tell my manager that the card was expired but either way I can’t use it because I’m not an adult.
I guess I could get paid with paper checks, at least temporarily. Maybe I’m irrationally worried, I’m just scared they’ll fire me because I don’t have a way to accept paychecks and really need this job!
Are there ANY options for a direct deposit program that don’t require you to be 18 that you can apply for remotely? I’m trying to take this into my own hands if my parents won’t but there’s really not a lot I can do financially without them yet.
No direct deposit, no checkings – what do I do?!

I imagine a savings account is an option. You can direct deposit paychecks into savings accounts.
ask for a paper check then use a check-cashing service. they won’t fire you over this, just talk to your manager ASAP
you’re not gonna get fired over this, this is super normal, especially for minors your employer is required to have a way to pay you.
you’re probably not getting fired over this. payroll issues happen.
tell your manager/payroll exactly what happened: the payroll card info is expired and you’re under 18, so you need another option. ask if they can issue paper checks temporarily or provide a replacement payroll card. don’t wait until payday to bring it up.
Tell your manager right away and ask for a paper check or a reissued payroll card, because they’re required to have a way to pay you and this won’t get you fired, then use a check cashing service or see if a local bank or credit union allows a minor account with minimal requirements, just watch the fees since those can add up fast.
