      > The bill seeks to:

      > Ban the export of gasoline beginning on any day on which the average price for gasoline in the United States has been equal to or higher than $3.12 per gallon for each of the preceding 7 days.

      > End the export ban on the next day on which the average price for gasoline in the United States has been less than $3.12 per gallon for each of the preceding 7 days.

I only found that press release from this article: https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/US-Oil-Exporters-Under-Scrutiny-As-Gas-Prices-Spike-Across-50-States.html

Great and all, but capitalism doesn’t let you do all this socialistic stuff – lord forbid anything to benefit us.

Not a commentary on Ro; I like him. But this bill seems like an uphill battle.

    3. Wondering why they limited the text of the bill to gasoline and not oil…? Maybe they think Americans are stupid, or they themselves don’t understand how global commodity markets work?

Ro Khanna can be relied upon to always be the dumbest slopulist in the house of representatives

Noble idea but this just doesn’t make sense without significant framework development. It takes carriers 1-2 months to arrive to US ports. So are these oil companies supposed to now cancel long held contracts for sales? What about a place like California which can only
receive its products primary via shipping? Most of the refineries in this country are located along the gulf coast and Los Angeles. How do you ensure that ALL refineries sell their product at the lower prices locally vs storing product for shipment/sale to a higher price once the export ban ends? Seems there would need to be something like a board created to fairly ratio refinery gasoline production between being marked for export vs local sale.

Wouldn’t this make gasoline even more expensive? By restricting the oil exports to the world wouldn’t the world bid even higher for barrels of oil thus driving up the world wide price of oil? The American companies may be restricted from exporting but they can sell at any price and they would use the world price to sell at Americans wouldn’t they? No?

Economically illiterate idea that will strangle US trade partners in Europe and Asia, as well as low/middle income countries , that rely on imports of petroleum products. Indeed it’s the sort of measure I would expect to see from the administration itself. Would be much better to tax windfall profits and use the bounty to provide rebates to consumers and/or invest in renewables.

    8. Why doesn’t Khanna push together Valero refinery reopen in the bay area? He is from there and reopening it will help lower gas prices in California……
