Hi all, i’m currently a bit freaked out! I just got 6 reports of delinquency on my credit report and immediately called my student loan service. I put forbearance on them so I am back on good standing but I am freaked out about what my credit score is going to look like. I currently have a 724 and am anxiously waiting to see the damage. I have no clue what to do or if there is anything I can do to get these off my credit report. I called my student loan company back and they told me since 90 days have passed there is not much I can do and it’s unlikely a dispute will work. Please if anyone has any information or advice I would really appreciate it because I don’t want my score to drop 200+.

EDIT: all of the emails about my payment were going to an email I no longer use on a daily basis. So that’s why i missed the due payments. it’s my fault and I just need to know how deep I am in it.

    1. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like there is anything to be done. If you keep current in the future eventually it will outweigh the delinquency though. I can’t imagine it would drop 200 points just for being late (but I’m no expert on credit reporting). Sorry that this is happening.

Disputes are only for inaccurate information, and if you use them randomly to get accurate information removed it can sometimes cause more issues.

If it’s already on your report you can check myfico.com to see what your score is, it’ll update immediately. Unfortunately it’ll be 6 reports of 90 day late so it’s not going to be good, but as long as you make sure everything is handled after this it’ll bounce back with time.

You might be able to attempt goodwill saturation to request it be removed. If you dispute they’re likely to ignore your request, and student loan servicers are not as open to goodwill requests as other creditors, but if you need your score to improve quickly it might be worth a try. There’s information on r/CRedit for how to do it. If you don’t need to apply for anything right away, though, it will naturally heal with time.
