This shouldnt be surprising. When I was in highschool, my friends and I all had jobs at fast food joints, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. In my area, these positions are all occupied by middle aged immigrants now. There are also far fewer malls around so I’d imagine the market for retail work is significantly smaller.

I know seniors who are supporting/or partially supporting their adult grandchildren with a 50k/annum income. And in Alberta, that income has just dropped by some by 3k/annum. Try that!

I wonder if giving 475k new PRs and issuing 230k new foreign workers permits will help youth unemployment. Perhaps we should address this question to people who voted for this federal government.
