I was looking at some of my cards and requested 2 limit increases. One went from 1k to 7k and the other went from 1k to 2k.
How often do you check and see if you can increase your credit limits for cards? Do you request increases or wait for your bank to increase it automatically?

Ive never requested a credit limit increase before, the natural ones ive gotten, and initial has always been enough.
But thats just me. Spend within your means.
I’m more likely to lower them. This can make it easier to get new cards.
Never.
Every 6-12 months for a card I need the increase that I use.. Honestly, I only have one card below my normal spend to keep me under 30% utilization.. The rest I have to put in effort to get above 3-5%..
I’m a baby in credit history. On year 2 I wanted to get CLIs and now year 3 started and all my cards are enough for me to max out and not need any more credit but I don’t need it so I’m okay with the current ones
Besides, it’ll help with a future sign up bonus
I request CLIs when I need them. When I have a purchase higher than the limit on whatever card gives the best rewards for that category (assuming I’m not working on a SUB). I probably request a CLI every 2-3 years on average.
Never. If I’m ever in need of it I’m either doing phenomenal financially or I’m absolutely fucked.
ive never understood the desire to have a higher limit just for the sake of having a higher limit. it will only limit your ability to get cards as some banks will look at total credit limit and refuse you for having too much.
the only thing stopping me from lowering limits on my current cards is navigating phone menus to get to an actual human
