I’ve been going back and forth on whether opening a second credit card right now is a smart financial move or if I should just stick with my current card for a while longer.

    For context: I currently only have one credit card, always pay on time, and keep my utilization pretty low.

    My long-term goal is eventually applying for the Bilt card in maybe 5 months or so, but that would not be the second card I’m opening right now.

    I’m mainly wondering if opening another card now would help strengthen my credit profile before eventually applying for Bilt, or if opening multiple cards within a shorter time frame is viewed negatively.

    For people who’ve strategically built credit this way — did opening a second card earlier help you, or would you have waited
