I'm a guy with short hair and recently I've turned on the shower for no more than 30 seconds to a minute to rinse myself and get the soap wet. Turn off the water then lather myself up then spend the next 4 minutes just rinsing it off and lathering the privates and armpits again. Been doing this for a few months now and never had any complaints about my smell at work. Has anyone else showered for 5 minutes or less?
Anyone else here shower for no more than 5 minutes?

Ya, your not clean and your coworkers are lying.
Hell no. But there’s no shortage of water where I live, so I’ve never once had to consider monitoring its use.
That is like a military shower. It works if you are only washing, nothing else, and if you have short/easy to care for hair. I find that it is not long enough for me with long hair and needing to do basic skincare things or shaving.
I am in and out in 6 minutes usually. It takes me 10 if I wash my hair.
I grew up with my grandparents and my grandmother was a bitch, but a very efficient person and was very strict about consumption in all areas.
Showers aren’t for lingering and relaxing has stuck with me.
Get in, get lathered and scrubbed, get rinsed, repeat what might be needed, get out.
Frugal doesn’t mean living every part of life in a strict extreme cut way, if you just try to be efficient and not linger in the shower, to me that’s enough. I’m not going to put a timer with an alarm on it for a shower.
In and out.
That’s a navy shower. It originated on naval ships to conserve water, since ships have a limited amount of fresh water they can carry.

Are you exfoliating? Huge factor in whether that 5 minutes is doing much
I grew up with water restrictions in Australia. Using less water is good. It’s not an infinite resource.
Never.
I don’t take crazily long showers but I certainly don’t want to rush them.
They’re one of life’s pleasures.
I can, but I enjoy a long, hot shower for muscle aches at the of the day.
I have a 5 gallon hot water tank, I only have about 5 minutes max to shower then it’s ice cold haha
It’s about 5 minute showers for me. Every second I’m doing lathering, scrubbing, or rinsing. It’s a task for me, not relaxation time.
I don’t wash my hair daily because it’s dry, but my showers are short as well. I thoroughly wet my body, thoroughly soap it up, and then thoroughly rinse off. I don’t need more than that.
1.5 minutes. Turn off the water while lathering up and shampooing. Take as much time as you want. Scrub, scrub, scrub. Turn water back on for 60 seconds to rinse.
No way. I feel like that’d be terrible for the skin
Literally what’s the rush wtf ew
I bathe with a little water, it’s less water that way. Luckily there’s a bath where I am at.
Can I shower in less than 5? Yes. Do I like doing it? No and I won’t unless I have to (like while camping)
We are in water restrictions this summer so I try to keep things short on at least some days and do full care on the others. I also capture the water I run while waiting for the shower to warm up and use it for other things, it’s not a lot though, maybe one toilet flush.
I have really short hair and it still takes me 15 minutes if I don’t shave and 20 minutes if I do.
What has this to do with being frugal? Water conservation?
Sounds like being in the Navy. The issue is a shower that is easily turned off. The water knob goes from cold to hot, need to duck out of the way, plus if in a tub need to get water flowing to the shower. The Navy use to have showers with a chain to pull to turn water on, let go it is off. When low flow shower heads were first coming out some had a switch to turn off the water.
What you do is great for water conservation plus uses less hot water. Still clean afterwards.
Workday showers are five minutes. I usually do one weekend shower that probably 15-20 minutes max.
Same here. I’m 26F. I’ve been doing this since sixth grade. Though I don’t strictly time myself, my showers generally end before 5 mins – I’m not someone who finds any pleasure in going longer. I do a thorough full-body wash in that time.
Now, unlike some here, I’m not a woman who shaves often. And because I have tight curls I’m not washing my hair every time I shower (hair wash sessions are reserved for their own days lol — I just keep my hair up in twists when I shower).
Shorter showers are also an easy way for me to honour my focus on sustainability.
I regularly take 4-5 minutes in the shower. I don’t wash my hair every day and it’s short ish. I wash my face and soap up my body, scrub everything and rinse off. I take a little longer when I shave my legs and pits but I always go pretty quickly.
I have a hard time showering for more than about 3 – 5 minutes (usually 3). I am a guy with long but thin hair. I just have other things I’d rather be doing than standing in the shower. I also come from a large family (#6 of 8 siblings) and did spend a little time in the Army.
If I’m not shaving, then ya I’m probably 5 minutes max
I’m letting my beard grow so not shaving currently. I’m in and out in about 3 minutes. Throw some soap on the major spots and I’m out. Not sure what else I’d need to do in there that would take longer. 🤷♂️
I’m careful with time in the shower because my hair and skin are rather dry. Especially in winter, I spend around 10 minutes in the shower. Efficiently shampooing and leave conditioner in my hair while using soap. Occasionally longer in order to shave legs or exfoliate.
