Child graduates this month. I have a bit under 250k in PLUS loans. I'm learning now consolidation and IDR won't be possible. I need to get my father off as an endorser. It seems my only option is to consolidate to get the loans exclusively in my name, use whatever deferments / forbearances are available to perhaps get another holiday in with my family, and then do something severe. Am I missing anything. Thanks!

You can try applying for consolidation IMMEDIATELY (right now!) and if the stars align it may be disbursed before July 1st. It’s unlikely, but if that happens, you would have access to an IDR plan. If it is disbursed on or after July 1, 2026 then you would have a standard plan term of 25 years.
What do you mean doing something severe?
