It’s clear the current admin’s foreign policies are also failing. Only this admin can put the lives of 330 million americans in jeopardy by starting badly planned wars including tariff wars. Republicans have historically been pretty good at foreign policy, but this admin is all about jingoism similar to the wolf warrior diplomacy of China, which was also a complete failure. This admin will end up weakening the US on the global stage rather than strengthening it.

Starting when? And then that will be used as an excuse to cut other needed services to pretend to balance it out. Thief on all ends. Get what you vote for.

Holy crap how about you raise taxes on the billions coming from US oil profits right now?

They are trying to make the deficit and debt as LARGE AS POSSIBLE. They have ZERO room to cut any taxes right now.

**Trump says he aims to accelerate deficit spending “for a period of time”**

At least this tax policy isn’t regressive. Which is why he likely won’t really do it.

But many will give him credit for talking about it.

He doesn’t have that ability, it needs Congress. While it’s paid by consumers it’s collected at the terminal who report & pay it to IRS quarterly (with any other excise taxes), Congress need to amend the tax code to allow POTUS to modify rates which they won’t do and SCOTUS would block.

It’s also a terrible idea because it funds the highways trust (or would if Congress had kept rates at pace with spending), DOT would need an emergency appropriation to cover the additional deficit.

    6. Besides California, isnt gas taxes like less than .25/gallon? Suspending those taxes wont do shit when everyone is still paying over $4/gallon for gas and $5 for diesel.

      Edit: more accurate number

    7. Or you know, just vacate Iran.

Another sentence or two so my comment doesn’t get deleted. Another sentence or two so my comment doesn’t get deleted.

    8. So even less government revenue, which is probably incredibly low already since he kneecapped the IRS.

The debt is skyrocketing. He hasn’t lifted a finger to pay any of it off. And we’re starting a new super expensive forever war in the middle east too

They will still charge the same prices and make more profit, and we will be left with less funding and more deficit spending for roadway infrastructure

I am hoping this is true and not another way to manipulate the stock market. This whole administration is based on patchwork and half completed tasks and rushed judgements that lead to long term consequences

    11. I am not sure about the law on the gas tax but can he do that? I doubt that many people push back against an action like this but that does not mean it is legal.
