I did the pre-approval process for this card on Friday and got approved. However, after filling out the application and submitting it, it told me they’d need some more time to go over my applications. It’s probably been 6ish years since I’ve applied for a new card, but usually it’s an instant approval. Is this normal for Chase in general or am I an exception?

Chase has gotten way more cautious lately, especially if you haven’t applied with them in a while. They probably just want to verify some info since it’s been 6 years – totally normal and you’ll likely get approved within a few business days.
