The realpolitik of it is that the US benefits from this, even if the people suffer. Europe and Asia are reeling from high energy prices and the US less so. Inflationary shocks hurt the stagnant European economies more.
I doubt anyone is intentionally doing or thinking that, plus the diplomatic costs, but in a world where everyone loses, the US loses among the least.
