I feel like an idiot. I’m 5 months pregnant, exhausted, and recently took a long drive trip to a different state and owed multiple tolls. I got a text (I have gotten them from EZ-Pass in the past) and the website was a .gov site. I even went to my computer browser and searched the site and it was visually the exact same. Knowing I owed tolls that were a bit late I decided to use a credit card just in case something was up.
Bam – 25$ charge was actually 975$ to Hilton Hotel somewhere in London. I contacted my CC company and they said because I provided my info it is not fraud. I argued that the service I was paying for was not what I was actually charged for, etc and they are seemingly washing their hands of it. They are referring me to billing but customer service does not seem to have much info for me going forward and I don’t have much hope.
Am I completely screwed?
Fell for a toll scam – CC Company doesn’t consider it fraud.

I wouldn’t have high hopes – you gave your info to a scam website, for a known scam. They cosndier it fraud normally when u dont input your card – it gets skimmed or something
