My insurance agent says yes it's required but other insurance offices in my area say no it's not required until she receives her license and is able to drive independently. This is because her parents which are the policy holders are present in the vehicle when she has her permit. Can anyone clarify?

It's going to add about $70 more to my monthly premium so I want to know for sure.

I'm getting mixed results. Trying to figure out if my 15 year old daughter has to be added to my auto insurance if she passes her permit test next week? Located in Kentucky.

Because different companies have different underwriting guidelines.

    2. you’re getting mixed results because the rule differs from carrier to carrier.

we will mark a driver as permitted, non-rated until they have their valid drivers license. some will want them on the policy as soon as they are permitted.

some will also rate her on every vehicle so you may consider putting her on a different policy with a beater car or something. call some agents in your area and see what they can work up.
