It isn’t the end of the world but I wanted to apply for the Disney care to help with costs we will be planning a family Disney trip and I always pay my credit cards off. I had ONE report on my credit report (i didn’t know was still there) and chase said this for why I was declined for the card. It says “ Consumer report reflects charge-off(s) or bad debt collection(s)” We have decent annual income and I don’t have the highest score but have over mid 700s credit score and all cards paid off and on time. No other debt. Never been declined on a CC. Is there anything that can be done or not really and it is what it is? Ive heard call and ask for manual approval but i dont know if that will work with this situation.
The (only)bad report is from an old card from almost 6 years ago when I was out of work at the time
and I tried to work with the debt collection company but they didn’t get back at the time and wouldn’t
Agree if we paid the money they’ll remove it off the credit report. Should I still pay it just for future and contact them again or let it go since I’m guessing it drops off soon anyways?
We are chase banking customers with savings checking and another card (paid off) not that it matters probably.
applied and denied for chase CC – Disney inspire. Anything that can be done?

I’m not a lawyer, but…

Seems like you’re well beyond the statute of limitations (depending on your state) if this was from 6 years ago. Contacting them and/or conceding the debt may restart the timer and make it fully collectable (and legally enforceable) once again.
Further, collections will drop off your credit report after 7 years, anyway. You’re almost there.
You can call reconsideration to get a manual underwriting assessment, but if you have open collections, then Chase will generally not give in for a card like this (especially if you’re not a banking customer of theirs).
Banks can deny you for any reason they want. At the end of the day we don’t have the power to make the decision for them. You CAN appeal their decision, but right now banks are being very cautious due to current economic trends so it’s unlikely to change. Just roll with it and the pull on your report will drop off.

no one is going to believe that the collections agency didn’t respond to your attempts to pay. They charged off your debt, you didn’t have to pay it, and now you can’t get the cc. Them’s the breaks.
