Thinking of getting the CSR for the new SUB. I currently have the CSP. I was under the impression that the best way to get value out of your points is to transfer to Hyatt. Now I’m hearing that Hyatt points will hold less value starting in a few days. So I’m wondering- whats the next best way to redeem my points, once this change goes into effect? Should I still transfer to Hyatt after that? Will there now be a better transfer partner? Should I just redeem in the chase travel portal?

Been trying to do research about this, everyone keeps saying “just redeem with hyatt before may 20th” but thats not helpful advice for long term. I have a United SM Explorer card too, so maybe I can transfer points to United, is there any good value in that? Or am I better off just redeeming for straight cashback or Chase’s travel portal at this point?

Best way to redeem Chase Points AFTER Hyatt Devaluation?

    1. You would have to wait until after to see the seasonal hikes

Then determine if u want to move your points to hyatt

You transfer your Chase points for when you need it for your situation. I live by a United hub so pre-emptively transferring my points to United makes no sense for me because often it’s cheaper for me to pay with cash.

Yes Hyatt is getting devalued, but it’s still the best transfer partner for many people for the most part. That doesn’t mean you need to transfer all your points to them. I love their all-inclusive resorts, and regardless of the devaluation, 150k points is a lot for me to get a nice vacation.

yeah the hyatt devaluation sucks but its still probably gonna be your best bet for most redemptions even after may 20th 😅 united can be solid if you actually fly united regularly but their award availability is pretty hit or miss

i’d say keep hyatt as your main transfer partner and just adjust your expectations a bit. the travel portal is convenient but you’re usually leaving value in the table compared to transfers

Other than Hyatt, the best redemption values have always been with international airline partners. This includes Aeroplan, Flying Blue, British Airways/Avios, Virgin Atlantic, etc. Use an award search tool to find the best deals on your next flight.

From what I’ve seen, it was just that Hyatt was an *easier* way to find good redemption value. That might still be the case going forward.

The push to redeem with Hyatt before the change is more along the lines of if you know you have a booking you want, lock it in now.

To me, the value for UR is that you would use the transfer partners. In my case, since I also bank with Chase, the fall back plan is to cash out and put that money elsewhere if travel plans aren’t in the future.

    6. Personally if I can’t get a good transfer with Hyatt, I’ll transfer it to Wyndham. We go to Disneyland a few times a year, so it’s either Hyatt, Wyndham or Choice properties. I work for an airline, so I don’t use it for flights.

    7. There is not much you could do after May 20. You can check the Chase Travel Portal Point Boost on Hyatt hotels and compare it to the direct point booking of Hyatt, and choose the one that costs fewer points.

It was more a rule of thumb that “Hyatt or airlines” were actually good transfers, because all the other *hotel* options were already bad but airlines are generally still good.

For an individual trip, check the options: you might find a good Hyatt points option and pay cash for the flights, or vice versa, both, or neither. Depends on the city, airline, season…

Hyatt and United are still the best transfer partners. Alternatively the points boost is a good deal but always compare to the hotel website.

Me personally I think the answer is still going to be Hyatt. Looking at the deval chart, you’re still getting far superior CPP than any other hotel partner in all likelihood.

For me, it’s Hyatt or an airline for transferring points in general. Chase has enough airlines you can probably book a nice premium class ticket somewhere with the points too.
