About 8 years ago, I had 2 Amex charge-offs and never paid them back. I honestly thought I’d burned that relationship forever.
Over the years I focused on rebuilding my credit, lowering utilization, paying everything on time, and being more responsible overall.
Today, I decided to apply again and was instantly approved for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred with a $5,000 limit.
I wanted to share this because I know a lot of people feel hopeless after charge-offs, especially with Amex. In my experience, time and rebuilding your overall profile really can make a difference.
There’s definitely hope if you stay consistent and clean up your credit habits over time.
Also got approved for Gold and Platinum but too high of a yearly fee for me to benefit from.
Approved for Amex after 2 Charge Offs!

I am happy for you! I accepted a settlement with them in the past. I hope to one day get the same card back after becoming responsible with credit cards.
I dont get it, i got a 760 credit score, no charge off, only 1 miss payment in capital one when covid hit, applied for the bluecash everyday, went to manual review and got denied.. i also have a checking account and a savings with more than 13k dollars. I just dont understand. After i got denied i apply for the chase reserved and got approved for 25k. And i never had a cc with amex
Congrats on the approval! Can you quantify for us how much you burned Amex for previously with those charge-offs?
