$6/mo for the basic gold membership. My parents already have an executive membership and they go once a month for their groceries and other house needs, but the last time I went was once last year usually during the holidays for their pumpkin pie and other holiday treats. I normally do my groceries at smart and final each week primarily for chicken, pasta, fruits and veggies. I can afford the membership, but as far as I'm aware there is no option to pause the subscription which is what I want. Should I just cancel it and restart it again in the future? I feel like I may be missing out on some benefits for being a long standing member.
I only go to Costco once a year. Should I just cancel it?

If you only go once a year, ask your parents to buy you a gift card, reimburse them, then use that to shop. No membership required to use a gift card.
if you’re only hitting up Costco once a year, it might be worth just canceling and saving those bucks. you can always sign up again later if you find you’re missing out on stuff. stick with what works for you now!
There are no benefits I know of for being a long-time member.
My Costco credit card is one of my older accounts, so I would get a small ding on my credit if I was to close it, because my age of credit would drop. But as far as just warehouse membership the only thing to change would be the “member since” on the card.
If I were you I’d do as suggested in another comment. Ask your parents for a gift card to do your once a year shop, and save your money!
Do both of your parents shop at Costco or just one? Because they can get two cards with their membership.
I live three hours away from my parents and it’s never been a problem.
I considered. But every time I fill up gas during one of my lunch breaks I also get a nice cheap meal at the court.
I think membership costs are worth it in the long run.
If you have your parents’ use it or go with them. It’s fun family time
