Algeria Builds New Section Of Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline to Europe | Firstpost Africa | N18G

Algeria, Nigeria and Niger have officially launched construction of the long-awaited Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), a major energy project aimed at boosting African gas exports to Europe. The estimated $13 billion pipeline will transport natural gas from Nigeria through Niger to Algeria, where it will connect to existing export infrastructure serving European markets. Spanning around 4,000 kilometres, the pipeline is expected to carry up to 30 billion cubic metres of gas annually, making it one of Africa’s most significant energy projects. Leaders say the initiative could create jobs, support industrial growth and strengthen the continent’s role in global energy markets.

    1. Niger should rethink it's position. Algeria have not been helpful regarding terrorists using its border to attack fellow AES member Mali.

    2. Just looking at the time stamp and I can already assure you…that pipeline is not going to happen… Nigeria,Niger, Algeria then Europe…it's not going to happen….too many interests and exploitation stories 🤦🤦🤦

    3. It's funny how projects when they are about to be enacted in AFRICA they are bound to be protest against for environmental what what friendly…😮😮😮but when the project including western countries they are celebrated 😮😮😮😮

    4. Many Nigerians still rely on firewood for cooking, while their government focuses on exporting natural gas to Europe.
Looking at it from another perspective, many African countries are in urgent need of affordable gas.
Shouldn't the priority be to meet domestic and regional energy needs first before exporting resources abroad?
A nation's natural resources should, above all, improve the quality of life of its own people and contribute to the development of its region.
Gas is more expensive in Nigeria and some regional countryside than in Europe.
      Colonialism is still on.
