I’m 63. In 1976, “Bicentennial” rolled off our tongues like our own names. I don’t hear Semiquincentennial enough. Is it because it’s harder to say?!?! Not a good enough reason, as far as I am concerned. 250 years is really something for this generation to celebrate. For those of us who remember the Bicentennial, the majority of us will never see the Tricentennial. The one thing a president can do to affect oil prices – upward – is to start a war in the middle east. Which of course is exactly what the incompetent con artist in the White House did. True to form, he now has to blame somebody else for the pile on the floor. So like the true conservative that he isn't, he points the finger at the oil companies. Now they may well be taking excessive profit, but the reason they can is stated in the first sentence here. It also doesn't explain the rising rate of inflation on everything we buy, nor the tariffs we have to pay, nor the tax cuts for the wealthy.
