have been on paye since 2013, husband and i file separately. income hasnt changed. did have another baby totalling 2 kids who i claim is the only change. I recertified in April although it wasnt due to recertify till end of june. then it said my plan was IDR and my payment plan was same. but if you look at schedule my payment went up to 3505 a month in a month. i called in may they told me to recertify. so i did and got same letter a week later. i called and they said it was just if i didnt recertify and the standard payment plan. but i just got an email that saids i have 3505 due at end of month. what is going on???!? obviously calling tomorrow but i am freaking out.

I don’t see how this model is sustainable. $3500/month is steep.
The online application has been causing some issues. They are showing you a 10 year standard amount.
You can use the pdf application to request a recalculation and upload it and your income documentation directly to your servicer: https://studentaid.gov/sites/default/files/IncomeDrivenRepayment-en-us.pdf
I’m having the same issue. I recertified through studentaid.gov which said my payment would be $282 (my old payment was 315 but my income went down). I then recieve notification from mohela they received it, then I get notified I’m approved with a 315 payment (already wrong here), then I get the notification letter that shows the breakdown of payments for how many months. It shows 2 months at $315 then 36 months at $820 (this would be my standard payment). This was all last month and I was in administrative forbearance until yesterday, right now I have $0 payment and am not in forbearance. Literally nothing they have sent me has been correct at all. Ugh so I will also be calling tomorrow. Super frustrating.
In what world are they expecting people to pay $3,505 a month on a school loan? That is outrageous. Take a deep breath. Hope you get this sorted out soon.
