Air fresheners? 🚩

Walked through a beautiful custom house. Owners have not been living there for the last 6 months but come weekly to check on it. The fully finished basement has a very obvious spot of mold from an old small appliance leak.

I did notice that there were 2 air fresheners set on the carpets in the 2,000 square foot basement. There were none anywhere else in the house.

Is this trying to cover up potentially more mold?
