In the book “Talking to my daughter about the economy” it make the claim in the Chapter the “Haunted Machines” that too much automation leads to economic collapse due to less customers, and that the economy will always go back to human workers after a time. Is this still a feasible hope today?

      Nonsense.

The increasing use and availability of machines and other “automation” is precisely a massive part of our increasing wealth through its enabled increases in productivity. There has never been a wholes collapse of this process since the industrial age began, and quite frankly it is quite ignorant, to hope for such. If you want to go back to manually scratching for food in the dirt, you’re quite welcome to do so.
