Hello, I am looking to get myself another card since I only have one, I just want to see what card is best and if I have a good chance at being approved. I filled the template with bold answers.
CREDIT PROFILE
- Discover credit
- 752 transunion and 752 equifac
- Oldest credit age: 2 yr, 3 month
- Annual income: Around 10-15K per year since Im a full time student. I did see that scholarships count as income an I have around 60-70k of that
CATEGORIES
- * OK with category-specific cards?: YES
- * OK with rotating category cards?: YES
- * Estimate average monthly spend in the categories below. Only include what you can pay by credit card.
- * Dining $: 50
- * Groceries $: 50
- * Gas $: 50
- * Travel $: 100
- * Do you plan on using this card abroad for a significant length of time (study abroad, digital nomad, expat, extended travel)? Most likely if I go abroad
- * Any other categories (examples: phone/internet, insurance) or stores (example: Amazon) with significant, regular credit card spend (the more you specify, the better): Nothing for this category
- * Any other significant, regular credit card spend you didn't include above?: Nope
- * Can you pay rent by credit card? Dont have a rent
MEMBERSHIPS & SUBSCRIPTIONS (delete lines that don't apply)
None to all, I only have student spotify.
PURPOSE
- * What's the purpose of your next card (choose ONE)?: (first credit card, balance transfer, saving money, travel rewards): Just a step-up card, I do travel a lot since Im an out of state student but I also spend an equal amount on mixed categories.
- * Do you have any cards you've been looking at? No but credit karma says my approval odds are high for Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards and Chase Freedom Unlimited
Looking for a new card since I want another that is good

you could probably get either of those but the student versions might be a safer bet with that income, capital one has a savor student that gives 3% back on dining and groceries which fits your spend way better than the quicksilver’s flat 1.5%
your scholarship money definitely counts as income so make sure you’re reporting the full 60-70k on apps, that changes your approval odds drastically
