If you need some reading glasses, you can get a new pair for free…

…the next time you go out to eat at a restaurant.

I worked as a waiter in restaurants for about a decade. I worked at 6 different places. All the restaurants were pretty different, but they all had one thing in common: all of their lost and found bins were full of lost reading glasses, because people were constantly losing them and nobody ever came in to claim them.

Many of them were CVS reading glasses, but some of them were actually pretty nice…

I would sometimes have tables ask if they could "borrow" a pair of reading glasses for reading the menu. I would always offer the lost and and found bin, and urge these people to please keep the glasses, since we had so many.

If you need a new pair of reading glasses, and you don't mind a used pair, I recommend asking your waiter if you can "borrow" a pair…
