Putin is suggesting an economic motive for Poland, in justifying the Nord Stream 2 sabotage.

Polish PM Donald Tusk recently stated:

“Those who disabled Nord Stream 2 shouldn’t be ashamed. Those who built it should.”

What Putin is pointing out is that Warsaw lost money when the pipeline bypassed Poland, stopping gas transit fees…

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline instead went straight under the Baltic Sea to Germany.

So Putin is calling their justification of what Russia calls a terrorist attack “economic expediency.”

To a degree, he may have a point… but Poland is no friend of Russia’s, pipeline kickbacks or not.
