President Putin has been accused of blackmailing Europe over supplies of Russian gas.
The Russian President has threatened to cut off gas to “unfriendly countries” unless they pay in the Russian currency, the rouble.
Mr Putin signed a presidential decree ordering buyers to open rouble accounts in Russian banks.
Germany which is one of the main buyers of Russian gas said it would not tolerate any attempt at what it called “political blackmail”.
Mr Putin’s ultimatum is aimed at supporting the rouble which has been hit hard by international sanctions on Russia.

Hes right in his way,You want to buy gas and pay in euros and then freeze these euros,So in fact he is giving gas out for free.
Can someone explain to me what is this about as I don't see any advantage or disadvantage for any of part. West will still pay in EUR/USD and then ti will be converted into rouble… But the amount paid in EUR/USD by West would be the same… nothing practically change.. or not?

Putin should cut off gas supply if the buyers are unwilling to pay in Russian currency, Europe can't survive longer without Russian oil and gas.
Just half watched a video of Von Der Lying saying she has warned China to not do business dealings with Russia and gloated about all the business Russia is losing, yet she is more or less crying for Russia gas and for it not to be paid in Rubles, and for BUSINESS to remain as normal. This is so weird.
