I'm in an extremely tight spot. Lost my career job a month ago. It was a very specialized career in aviation and I don't believe I can transfer much of my experience elsewhere. A Flight Dispatch class starts in the middle of october (~11th). I called the Texas Workforce Commision (TWC) in hopes they could pay for the tuition.

They scheduled a call September 29th just to give me an idea of how things worked. Told me:

    (1) they might not be able to pay for Dispatch, but would have to check

    (2) They may struggle to approve training because of my various (Useless) IT certifications and bachelor's degree

They did not say much of substance, but suggested it may take 60 days to approve payment for training if approved, and scheduled me for a follow up call on october 15th, after the class has already begun.

I don't even know if I can remain at my apartment for 60 more days. Or the city. I'd have to move in or even be forced back to my parents house.

Does the TWC pay for Flight Dispatch training, and if they did, would they reimburse me after the fact if I'd already paid for my own training?

Would the TWC pay for the flight dispatch program?

Did you intend to post in /r/personalfinance?

Because your specific question is very niche to Texas Workforce Commission and how they operate.

You may find higher yield in either a Texas or TWC sub.
