Russia is the largest exporter of natural gas globally and the second largest producer behind the U.S. But despite sparking the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II, Russia’s natural gas continues to flow through Ukraine to the rest of the continent. The EU receives about 40% of its natural gas from Russia, about a quarter of that flows through Ukraine. So what role does natural gas play in the tensions between Russia and Ukraine and how are Europe and the U.S. impacted?

Russia And Ukraine’s Conflict Over Natural Gas Explained

    1. Stop all imports, ban the bloodied gas and oil from Russian kleptocracy. It is time for embargo. ONE or TWO months and Russia will bankrupt, Putin overthrown and war ended. Whole Russian federation MUST IMMEDIATELY feel the real consequences of their barbaric war, that is the only way. Moral men can happily endure few months of discomfort of higher prices, or shortages of gas or goods. What is it in comparison with murdered women and children from prolonged war? Stop the trade with Russia. Let them to eat their gas. And let them teach a new words – Военные репарации („voyennyye reparatsii“, war reparations), they must pay for all the damage they have caused.
All Russia is to blame for their war crimes, this is not doing of one psychopath, it is whole system. If ordinary russian to this day DON'T even KNOW about their war crimes in Ukraine and are so brainwashed that they are in compete denial even when confronted directly with evidence of their atrocities, then Putin will not stop. After all, 85 percent of all russian citizens actually support this brazen war.
You think that after, God forbid, Putin prevails in Ukraine he will crawl back to his bankrupt Mordor and behave, suddenly being a good boy?
And for God's sake, never ever trust notorious number one Kremlin fascist – Putin the Botox Queen on high heels, in his KGB times known as окурок («okurok», cigarette butt). He is liar and faker and corrupt beyond imagination along with his Kremlin henchmen.
After all "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" as Lord Acton said already in 19th century. Quite accurate description of tsar Putin the Bloody.
Now, fascist Russia has only one policy. To LIE. Lying big, and getting the whole damn world to play along with them. Once they got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, they've got us by the neck. All free people worldwide beware that russian empire of lies.
Putin understands only power and determination. Everything else is sign of weakness to him. Do everything what is in your power to drive Putin's kleptocracy to the end. Talk to your representatives. God will do nothing for us that we will not do for ourselves. Terrorist, liar and war criminal Putin and his henchmen are pure evil and all free men have a moral obligation to face evil before evil prevails. God bless you and all good people who stand against tyranny.

"Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject."
      – John Stuart Mill, 1867

"Appeasement policy, the policy of appeasing Hitler and Mussolini, operating jointly at that time, during 1937 and 1938 by continuous concessions granted in the hope of reaching a point of saturation when the dictators would be willing to accede to international collaboration. … It came to an end when Hitler seized Czechoslovakia on March 15, 1939, in defiance of his promises given at Munich, and Prime Minister Chamberlain, who had championed appeasement before, decided on a policy of resistance to further German aggression."
      – Walter Theimer (ed.), The Penguin Political Dictionary, 1939

    2. RUSSIAS CONVENTIONAL MILITARY HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE INEPT!, UNDER-TRAINED & UNDER-SUPPORTED LOGISTICALLY, PROBABLY DUE TO THE DICTATORIAL OLIGARCHY, FORM OF MAFIA-LIKE LEADERSHIP OF PUTIN & THE KREMLIN!

    3. How many documentary will be made on the gas from Russia while ignore issue of NATO aggressive expansion and Ukraine's nationalists and n@zis killing Russians in Ukraine's civil war! Why isn't the mainstream media talking about these issues?! Russia is wrong but NATO is too!

    4. It's easy, Europe shouldn't have taken seriously the machiavelic measures of the US empire. US wants to be the ONLY one with political leverage. You're just hurting the Europeans in exchange for your horrible shale gas.

    5. This war would not happen if Ukraine was accepted by NATO in 2008. But this was blocked by Germany who enjoyed free protection from the USA itself. Germany wanted to gain profits from Russia at the expense of Ukraine. Well-done Germany!

    6. So, to all those countries stuck on sucking a despot's nipples for their energy at the expense of a war torn country is beyond shameful….profit before principle, regardless of children being murdered, millions of refugees who are utterly homeless and many other horrible atrocities just for the dollar….really?

    7. I was hoping to see the issue US creating for India from last month. The audacity of US of telling India to stop purchasing oil from Russia while Europe being the top 10 importer of Russian gas.

    8. A very good report. Well done. We humans are too dependent on new and better things. When the ocean waters rise another foot and our children have less of a future because of our demands for things will then be the moment we make these hard changes? What will it take before our global community cut back on the excess goods which might be our only true option to get a grasp on the cut back of production of carbon dioxide?

    9. If you REALLY want to know what the Russian invasion of Ukraine is about, you should check out the drought in Crimea. People talk about Russia's natural gas that they used to have to pay Ukraine for but that is not REALLY what this conflict is about. It's not about Nord Stream2. Although, Germany is really between a rock and a hard place over that.
