The climate crisis cannot be a partisan issue. Both parties need to get serious about it, but I applaud the Democratic Party for actually doing something positive.. The Republican Party is still in a collective state of denial. They must get on the same page as Democrats to save the planet.

I lived in Alaska and actually worked for a government body doing work that often involved oil companies and drilling exploration. There is absolutely NO reason to drill in that inlet or in many of the places the oil companies want to drill… like in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. They "prefer' those areas because they are Federal and can avoid payments to State and local governments or native corporations. One thing they hated about Prudhoe Bay … which was hugely successful… was that the land in the area belongs to the North Slope Borough (the largest county type government in the world) and the local native corporation…. so they had to make parents to them both for leases and for taxes on buildings and equipment. There have been many good potential drilling sites identified on the North Slope that have been ignored because the oil companies really… REALLY want to drill in ANWR and offshore where they'd only need to purchase federal leases and not pay the local government or corporations anything….. despite those sites being much more vulnerable ecologically and will still impact the local people. The people there aren't against all new drilling or pipelines as it is almost the only resource they have that supports everyone there in one way or another. They just oppose it being done in those sensitive areas and areas that will almost completely cut them out of any financial gains.
The lockdowns are about to cost humanity over half its population.

The reason everything we purchase is skyrocketing is over 80% of the goods we purchase in this country are delivered BY TRUCK. Diesel costs are at an historical high, thus so is everything we purchase. Add that to the price per gallon we pay at the pump (due to this administration's policies), and it all ends up making the poor in this country even more poor. Biden took this country from being "energy independent" to making us "dependent" again. Some of you might be surprised to learn (for example) that as of this date, America is still purchasing hundreds of millions of barrels of oil from Russia. Yes, it's hard to believe isn't it.
