    President Biden calls out U.S. oil companies as gas prices soar



    President Biden sent letters to several U.S. oil companies Wednesday, asking them to do more to reduce the price of gas. Zeke Miller, a CBS News political contributor and White House reporter for the Associated Press, joined Matt Pieper to discuss the issue.

      No adequate transportation in many cities. Shell has bragged about record profits just like the major Grocery chain Kroger. We need to go back to anti-trust. Capitalism was suppose to be free trade not imperialist greed. Look at the crazy trucking industry and or Amazon. There's no middle class, and health care is a joke. Minimum wage doesn't pay for a half tank of gas.

      People driving more than ever long as don’t run out gas sure Biden wants cheaper oil and greener energy can’t have both is glass half full ??

      Not that I’m against capitalism, but it clearly has a dark side. Oil companies are doing what hotel/motel owners do during western wildfires.. price gouge. If there’s a crisis, rest assured someone will figure out how to make money off of it. Big oil is using Ukraine/Covid to rake people over the coals.

      Maybe he should not have undone everythingTrump did as far as oil is concerned. Trump had 40,000 oil leases for the oil company and Biden took all but 9,000 away? Plus the administration added more fees and regulations. It’s no wonder they can’t fix the problem because the problem is them. We sure didn’t have these problems under Trump.

      He canceled the Keystone pipeline, paused oil and gas leases and permits, he canceled oil drilling lease sales in Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, and now he’s mad because there’s not enough gas. What an ignorant fool

      Peak oil is here. We need a "Windfall Profits and Carbon Tax" to get off fossil fuels permanently and start doing something about surviving catastrophic climate change. The alternative is human extinction. But we already know that our repugnant-kin senators would reject such 'silly' notions. Then they'll blame Biden for high gas prices and inflation. And call themselves patriots. Vote those evil fascist death cultists out before we have nothing left but a barren planet.

      If Biden's Gas Hikes & Raising Food Prices on the less fortunate here in US & Abroad is not inherently Evil, I don't know what Evil is. Democrats just don't care how much people are suffering because of their policies

      The problem is easily fixed… a profit tax directly equal to the amount of price increase which will be paid directly to the people. Price increase minus tax equals zero increase in profit negating the financial gain for raising prices. The best part, it's totally legal. Construction says Congress shall have the right to regulate commerce. Oh and just for good measure, make the law retroactive for the last 3 years.
