  1. Web3 is still in the making, so him critiquing it as “complete” rubbish when it’s still a work in progress is in and of itself “complete” rubbish

  2. Using ethereum as a comparison to Visa is like using dial-up as a relevant internet connection in this decade. NEAR can do 100k tps with an average cost of less than a cent (and is carbon neutral). Poorly researched.

  3. The key points mentioned in the video don't seem to be very accurate, there are a lot of good crypto projects with high tps and low tx fee, and regarding scams again, most scams involving reputed crypto networks happens only coz of the ignorance from the user's end.

  4. It’s too bad that this entire presentation is using current stats on the ecosystem, once ETH 2.0 goes live then it will make VISA/MASTERCARD look ancient, because they are, like he said…60+year old systems…seems like a big FUD campaign being run by the TED channel

  5. This guy mixed pears and apples and obviously doesn't know so much about crypto, layer 2 solutions and what's happening with ETH 2.0 and other crypto projects…he even mentions Vladimir Lenin and crypto in one sentence and whole subject, how crazy is that 🙄 I cannot believe that TEDx official channel uploaded this video…🤢

  6. Doesn't seem like a TedX talk. Feels like someone who doesnr believe in evolution or innovation and stating some examples to prove the point. He sounds exactly like someone when internet was new and had all negative things to say

  7. I'd like to ask everyone a few questions to think about. How can we accomplish world peace? Why are senseless murders and crimes becoming almost an epidemic? Why are we having more viruses break out? Why are the hearts of people growing colder? Why are governments worldwide just not working for the good of its citizens? The answers can be found in the Bible! Jesus explained that these things would grow worse preceding His return. If you don't know Him as your personal Savior, please repent of your sins and give Him your life. He will bring peace and joy in the midst of turmoil. He is our only hope. Why am I telling you this? Because I care where you're going once you leave this earth. Jesus loves you more than you know. I pray you'll make the right decision before it's too late. God Bless.

  8. The understanding of speaker seems to be shallow in terms of understanding of blockchain infrastructure or an intentional omitting of technological developments like L2 on top of Layer 1 blockchain. Sure there are technological advancements to be made.

The biggest proponent of Web3 is you can own your data and not centralized entities. I can earn a million followers on Instagram and Facebook (Meta) can just take away my handle or delete my content is a problem.

The speaker mentions transfer of wealth from one billionaire to another, I'd argue on the contrary that Web3 gives normal folks a shot at being ahead of VCs and benefitting just from being a participant in the ecosystem (Look at ENS airdrop as an example). Sure, there's greed and speculation with meme coins but it's no different than the stock market and what happened with Gamestop, AMC frenzy (that's a people problem and not technological).

Digital assets are the reality of 21st century and adoption would happen sooner or later.

  9. Who the heck is paying $40 to upload data for cryptocurrency? Seriously I've been messing with it for years and I've never heard this. Plus there's all kinds of way to get free data for anyone that wants to spend a little time researching.

  10. Also I'll grant you that web 3 is slower but you're talking about it like it can't be used in combination with web to it wasn't meant to be a standalone system and if you're going to use it that way it is going to have to evolve of course
