Czech Republic calls nuclear energy a 'priority' as it assumes EU Council Presidency | DW Business

Nuclear power is getting more support on the EU-level as the Czech Republic assumes the EU Council Presidency. Leaders there say pushing up support for atomic energy is a priority. While countries like Germany, Denmark and Austria are saying goodbye to it, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland (and also France) are focusing on expanding their nuclear energy.

  1. Nuclear energy power is the only answer to us human beings to save this earth, our only home. Gas is the fossil fuel source that is killing our home now.

  2. no need to worry about getting hit with nuclear missiles when it just takes a conventional missile to turn your power plant into a nuclear weapon.

  3. The video contains several informations that are NOT TRUE
    – The safety in both Czech nuclear power plants ,eets westers standards easily
    – How many shurdowns due to technology reliability were in Temelin in past 20 years? 1 or 2? NOT many.

DW is a good channel and it is not worth to degrade your reputation with such statements.

  4. hey there a lots of good energy ideas, however things will calm down over night when putin is gone. the kremlin lesson is understood that they live in the past and are not to be trusted.

  5. As Austrian, I find it shameful how scientific data is being ignored when Austria and Germany in particular try to bad-mouth nuclear energy. I'd rather want an intact planet with the occasional nuclear breach instead of a post-apocalyptic wasteland with great radiation levels

  6. I understand the worlds need for energy . I also understand the need to save our planet . Nuclear , at the moment , is the only viable form of energy that even comes close to meeting both needs .

  7. Finally Putin will fix EU problems, with pain of course for next few years 🙈 This is a pay day for being lazy and slow, all politics and bureaucracy 😂 You knew how many kw country need 50 years ago 30 years ago 20 -10 👌 But done very little about this 🤭Plan is EV ? How many KW EU need in next 10-20 years ? Will do the maths or Putin will do for you ? Nuclear, wind, sun, river, storage, connect grid between EU and sell to each other 👌Diesel 2.15, KW 30ct, how much more far away you willing to go ?

  8. It was just reported that India's biggest cement company has paid for Russia's coal with Chinese's Yuan.

What does this means? USD and EUR are obsolete as international currencies. BRICS nations could already in progress to allow non USD and/or non EUR as currencies. The move will influence more and more companies to trade with non USD and/or non EUR, hence in the end Russia will be no longer affected by the sanctions. The only losers would be USA and EU.

  9. Liquid Sodium reactor 's a size of a" bulter bulding" a crew of 21. Running 3 shifts. These plants are less complex then a steam power station. Less expensive, and easier to build and staff.

  10. Lol everyone becoming Captain hindsight all of a sudden. 10-20 years ago you would have stuck with oil and gas when you saw the massive costs and complexity of setting up a nuclear power plant. Russia was selling it cheap and there was already a pipeline, you can't just make decisions about energy based on the possibilities of future wars. Japan and Germany are super rich because they import food and energy and focused on manufacturing. Trying to do everything domestically raises prices.

  11. What is European Union countries strategy, in as far as clean energy is concerned? Poking the bear in the eye, is at owners risk. Why are you scrambling for gas, crude oil when your neighbor Russia has plentiful of your requirements. Humble yourself, the world is changing so fast, learn to adapt quickly.

  12. Yes, yes … Germany and Austria thinks that nuclear is bad, but when the weather is not optimal they will keep buying energy from those French or Czech nuclear power plants 🤡
Besides solar/wind etc is not "green" either as producing it also pollute this planet. We simply have to use nuclear ultil nuclear fusion will be available, i dont even know what is here to discuss.

  13. РЕШИТЬ ПРОБЛЕМЫ ЕВРОСОЮЗА И АЗИИ
    SOLVE PROBLEMS EURO-UNION AND ASIA
